Sick of MJ's. Want something nicer

I am tired of these maxijets. I have 3 X MJ1200 and 1 X MJ900. They have a bad habit of falling and I scared they are going to blast something to death. I am considering something nicer. Maybe a tunze system but really don't know a lot about them. My tank is mostly softies with some LPS so I dont need crazy flow but would like to have as much as I can get away with in case the SPS bug ever bites me (which I don't foresee happening but who knows). Anyone have any good reading for me or want to make a recommendation? They will be going on the 180 once I get everything transferred. It will probably be BB. What about one of these kits?

Your right about the Maxijets falling. You really have to be diligent about keeping the glass clean as well as the suction cups. And the will also get old and wear out, so that you have to replace the suction cups. One thing I used to do, was secure the electrical cords coming up out of the water in a way that would not let them fall very far in case the suction cups let go.

Since I can't even THINK about affording a Tunze system, I made my MJ's stay put. (Bad pump! Sit! Stay!!!)

They should have come with "hanger's" as well as the pump fixture. I had to cut a little of the plastic lip around my tank, but you should be able to make them work with the hangers. I put mine on that way about a year ago, and (knock on wood) they haven't budged since...

The one that keeps falling is directly above my beautiful sebae anemone. I just know it's going to get him. Stupid things. I generally couldn't afford a Tunze system either but just have some disposable funds for once. I think I would really enjoy it so... Anyway I tried cleaning the suction cups (which are new) and the acrylic but still so sticky...

Thanks

Cool idea. Thanks for the links. Any local places carry the Tunze stuff? Angela said:

He is one of our sponsors, I got my Tunze from him, and he usually has them in stock.

I got my stuff from Jimmy and have enjoyed my stuff so far.

I got a magnet holder for the wavebox and one of those rocks for the stream. The streams generally blow down a bit with the magent holders, I think and might cause some sand to stir. I think Marc has a mod for it....

Yeah, I cut and secured a piece of acrylic to lift the pump up slightly to avoid my sand being displaced. The Tunze Rock is nice is you can place it in your rockwork and still be able to access it to remove the pump for cleaning. But I doubt you can put it on the sandbed and not have sand sucked into the pump.

When I move to the 180 I'm probably going BB so sand will not be a problem. I like the rock but I'm kinda cheesy so I wanted a second opinion first.

Thanks

The deco rocks are the bomb! Much cooler than big powerheads. Well, if I had more $$$ I would have the Tunze's but someday I suppose.

If you are only up grading from a 150 to a 180, I would reconsider and upgrade into the 200's, you won't be sorry. Thirty gallons on a 6 foot long tank is nothing.
