Sick Clown Fish

My female Clown Fish has come down with cloudy eyes (one eye yesterday and both eyes today) and a white-like rash on her head and dorsal fin area. She isn't eating today - I don't think she can see :(

What do you think could be wrong? She doesn't have the more prominent white spots that look like ich - perhaps velvet? What do you recommend as treatment? Thanks for your advise....Candace

I have been having the same problem. It is velvet. Treat with copper for 10 days in a hospital tank. It is a dinoflagellate, parasitic algae. You can do a freshwater dip for some immediate relief. It will infect you other fish in the tank also. You can't treat the tank if you have LR in it so you have to get the fish out and let the tank go fallow for qt least 20 days.

Hi Dennis,

Thanks for the quick response. I got the copper medication today and was ready to remove her to a hospital tank - but she's obviously feeling better as I can't catch her! Every time I get close to her side of the tank she ducks under a rock. I'll try again when she's sleeping. She does look much better though and did eat tonight. Maybe she'll get better on her own?
