Should I put coral or fish first into my tank?

I was wondering if I shoud put my fish or coral into my tank first. And what kind of coral is a great starter coral but still is colorful?

The tank is 30 gallons and I have cycled it for almost two weeks. The nitrates and amonia are at 0 and my ph and salt levels are are good. I really like the lighting in many the tanks I see on the forum that make the coral, etc. look purple. I think its the acentic lighting, but if I am wrong someone correct me. If I did get the acentic lighting like ryan said, do I need to keep one of the bulbs I have in now or take them both out and put the acentic lighting in? I just want to be able to maintain the healthiest coral.

There are a lot of tanks that are 10k only. Actinic is NOT required. It looks nice, but some prefer the color of a white 10k. The real reefs do just fine with 6500k lighting(sun).

There is a reefer I know that has pretty much the same setup and does just fine keeping blastos and zoos. For a beginner I would get some zoos'. They are pretty easy to keep. I almost said Xenia but there are some folks that just cn't keep it alive

That setup should be fine for softies. I agree with Mitch get some zoanthids or ricordia and see how they do.

Hey nick if you get ready to make a trip to paris I will donate some softies, mushrooms, and zoos to the cause. I kept those things in that tank with that light. I had a regular little flour. fixture (the under cabinet type you can get a walmart) with a actinic bulb in there as well. That would allow you to have the glowing look that actinics give. Probably not with the 10Ks on but it would be cool for viewing. If you decide to add more lights good luck fitting them in that canopy.
