Should I keep my skimmer or upgrade

I've got an AquaC Remora with the MJ1200. I was told it was good to 75 gallons. It currently sits on my 37 gallon, and has worked great. I'm upgrading to a 75gal, with a 30gal sump, although the sump won't be filled of course. My display will have rock and sand in it, and the sump will have a fuge as well. So my question is will the Remora be able to handle the setup? I was thinking of upgrading to a Mag 3 instead of the MJ1200 thinking it might help. Any ideas? I'm sort of torn. She it stay or should it go?

If your willing to have a very small fish load you may be OK. If not then upgrade. YOu can probably sell the remora for like $100 and get a ASM G3 or simular so for $200 or $250 so you'll only be out $100 or so which isn't so bad.

I'll trade you a large skimmer I have for your Remora. Its 32" tall and footprint is 9"x11" and is rated for up to 300 gals. Im puttin together a small tank for my wifes office and a Remora would be perfect.
If not mine I would definately get a larger skimmer, better to overskim than not skim enough.

If you had the Remora Pro with a Mag3 or Mag5 upgrade, then you would be fine, what you have now prolly won't cut the mustard.

Thanks for the direction guys. I kind of thought that was going to be the case, but I needed a nudge.

Chris - I don't think I have the height for that skimmer, but I'll check tonight, and get back to you.

Thanks,
Jeremy

The Remora is rated for up to 65g, so it isn't large enough. The Remora Pro would be able to handle up to 125g.

If you can swap with Chris, that would probably be great. What brand of skimmer is that Chris?

Chris,

It looks like it's not going to work. I've got exactly 30 inches of height.

Thanks for the offer though.
Jeremy
