Setting up Metal Halides

Would yall recommend placing MHs in canopy or leaving an top canopy and installing lights from ceiling?

I was gonna get a stud finder from Lowes and start the preparation for pendants. Do I find an eye hook for the ceiling to place the chain then connect that to the pendant?

If so what size hook?

And for the ballast, can I just screw the ballast on the wall behind the tank?
