selling zoas question

i been collecting zoas and selling some and have a question. would you replace a zoa frag that closed up and melted even though it was happy and opened in your tank?

That's a little iffy. Anytime I sale anything live I request they come and see it for themselves. If they see it open and well in my tank and take it, the deal is done. No refunds/replacement, they saw it doing well and under what lighting conditions, as well as have my water to sample to compare to their own. Just my .02 :)

** obviously there could be diff circumstances, where things could be diff, but generally speaking that's how i roll lol

If it was only a couple days and I had enough to frag I would give them a couple more for good faith.

if i was able to frag more for them, i would. However, i dont know of any lfs that would replace dead coral that was perfectly fine in their tanks when it left the store.

Im the past I replaced everything that died for folks. Now im starting to think you see you buy. If folks think they will get it replaced they are not going to put much effort into saving the coral. Ex moving it into higher flow, dipping and moving to different lighting. They will just sit and waite til it melts. Some of these frag are hard to come by and everytime one is fragged there is a change the whole colony can vanise. Not saying I wont ever replace a frag but as mentioned depending on case.

I would hesitate to offer replacement frags on high end corals when the mother colony is doing great. For all you know, the buyer put it in a tank that was less than 2 days old.

Its not like you are offering Green Bay Packers at $2 pp. Myself, I would want to understand how long they had been in the hobby, if they can fluently discuss water parameters about their tank, flow, lighting, what changes they made when the coral started to look "off", etc.

YMMV

uchin i think it is a case by case basis. if it is an established stable tank like yours or david washington for example i would not hesitiate in cutting another frag. if frags were cut and healed up and doing good i would maybe do pay half for new frag to meet them half way. it just depends if recently cut i would prob replace them as long as they bring the frag plug to you for proof if they are a non member or someone new to the site just like you take pics of corals that died doa if you ordered something from a r2r member
