Selling a House with an in wall aquarium?

I am currently contemplating selling my house. I currently have a 180 gallon fresh water tank built in. It can either be salt or fresh. I was thinking about removing the tank but the change would be a dramatic one. I have seen several great set ups on here with tanks built in. So I guess the main question is: Has anyone here ever sold a house with tank included successfully?

I have had success in the past and I know it would be a plus to me if I was looking for a new house since you are talking about a 180 gallon. Of course it will depend on the buyer so you just have to see. I always spoke with the buyer and gave them a deal to leave the tank..

I would think it would depend on the 'class' of the house / neighborhood / potential buyers. If it's a McMansion in an upscale Ethan Allen pennitentiary, I'd think it would be a bonus.

I'd wait to see what the buyer thinks about it. We sold our home last year. Nice home in a gated community. We actually two offers over the course of a couple of months. The first potential buyers wanted the tank to stay and were willing to pay a little extra for us to leave everything. However, they backed out at the last minute due to it's proximity to 75.

The 2nd person, who actually ended up buying, did not want the tank and asked us to place an allowance in the contract for $1000 so that they could remodel the area and turn it into a bookshelf area.

So depends on the buyer. I don't think you have to change it before getting a contract. And, we didn't change it at all, just allowed them a little money so they could do it themselves.

We are looking to buy a house but we are also in the process of upgrading our. So a house for sale with a built in tank....where is it??

Have you sold it already.

thanks
Karen

When Kay and I were looking to move two plus years ago, even our Agent understood we needed a house with walls that would look good with an aquarium next to them. I think most agents will understand and make sure your agent posts that it can be left or taken out based on the buyers needs.

I live in Forney. I have not yet listed the house or spoke with a realtor. I was thinking of moving but am waiting to see just how bad this mortgage crisis turns out to be. If I do go ahead and decide to list my house I will post the info here.
