Sea Star Looks Bad

Hello,

I've had this sea star for about six months, and it looks like it is losing pieces of itself. Is there anything I can do, or is it on its way out?

Thanks

Looks worse today. Some whitish "skeleton" is even showing on one arm. I think it's time to put it out of its misery. Such a shame to see that happen to something that beautiful.

I think it's a Fromia star.

I wasn't ready to give up just yet, so it's still in the tank, though I did remove the legs that were no longer working. My thinking was that it could focus its energy on the parts that were still working, and I know the legs can grow back. I hope that wasn't stupid or cruel.
