Scraping Coraline?

Yup. I have a coraline algae threatening to engulf the front/side glass of my tank.

How do you guys get it off? I'd use a razorblade but I'm scared of scratching the glass, my hands aren't too steady, and my puffer is so curious I'm scared of hitting him on accident. I've been using an old credit card but it takes so much elbow grease that I don't get very far.

I bought a scraper from autozone, it looks like a long screw driver with a razor blade holder on the end. You can replace the razor blades with the standard Stainless steel razor blades. It cost about $5 and it is intended to be used to remove inspection stickers.

Saw this on reefcentral as a tip

A single edge razor blade inserted into a 45 degree groove, in a length of pvc pipe, makes an excellent algae scraper for glass tanks. Don't use a metal blade on acrylic, it scratches much more easily than glass

This is what I use. The one with the metal blade. http://aquariumsuppliesplus.com/pro448682.html WoodDragon said:
i also use this one, to use it on acrylic tanks you use the same attachment with the metal blade but use the bacside of it (plastic part of it)
