I am using a mag 12 for my 60 oceanic. I wanted the powerful pump b/c i didnt want to use a powerhead so the larger pump gives me great water circulation. However its killing my sand placement. Any ideas on keeping the sand solid and not mounding up on me?

I am having the same problem in my new tank with a mag 12 and a marco sand. I plan on getting a pair of loc-line elbows so I can drop the my return point lower in the tank enabling me to keep them more vertical. I am not sure if it will work, but it seems like it will.

Thanks might try that. Looked at your build. Very nice man. My wife would have killed me. She wants to kill me just doing the setup Ive done.

Thanks... My wife is about to kill me if I spend another dime. I think I have exceeded the estimate I gave her by about 25% so far! And when I said vertical above, I actually meant horizontal. LOL

Their are a few ways around your sand issue one put a Ball valve on the pump or they make them for loc line and adjust it back you can also look into a sea squid SCWD it acts like a power head and I would also aim the loc line at the water line as well it will give you better water to air transfer an still circulate your tank well - curt
