What brands and kinds of salt mixes do you use and how do you like them. I use IO Reef Cyrstals, have been using Tropic Marin for years but too expensive these days.
Same here I use RC and Red Sea Pro. said:You use both? Do you use them in different tanks for different reasons?

I used to alternate between the two salts but now I just use one bucket for all the water changes until it is gone then switch to the other. This is OK as long as you know the parameters of the two salts. RC has a higher level of Alk around 12 and RSP 8 and Ca for RC is around 420 and RSP is 460 when mixed to a SP of 1.026.
You can get RSP for $39 from a LFS and RC is currently on sale at Doctor Foster and Smith for $29.99.a bucket. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+4685+4856&pcatid=4856
Both prices are great as I expect there will be a large increase of the price at some point due to increased shipping and import cost (RSP). So I take the opportunity to stock up by getting 4 buckets at a time.

I got a palletWhen I asked the guy how much that thing really cost to ship, he was saying about $180... got to my place in 3 days. The amount saved on shipping was half the cost of the salt. I may order another if I continue working from home this year, doing my own changes and stuff is eating up salt fast.
I also found the mg higher in the RC than RSCP. It takes a bit more of it to get to 1.026 though.. 19 cups vs 17 with RSCP in my can.
