[I can now say that my change from Oceanic to HW Marinemix is complete. My Calcium level has been steady at 460 for the past 4 weeks and I can finally say that my Alk level is holding at 10-12 using Kent super dbkh every other day. I am not having to add calcium at this time. My water changes have been 35 gallons every 7-10 days over the last 10 weeks during the change over. I am now beginning the second phase where I will change 35 gallons every 14 to 21 days for the next 6-8 weeks. I am hoping that the alk will stay and that I will need to begin to add calcium due to the sps that I have. On a side note the clarity of the water seems to be much better than with the Oceanic salt. I feel that the calcium may have been a factor as I had calcium levels of over 500 and a low alk of only 6-8 and that was with heavy dosing of dbkh. My ph is now steady at 8.2-8.3 where with Oceanic it was hard to maintain even 7.9. My fish and other livestock appear much happier and healthier.
The real test of this salt will be the growth of the corals over the next few months. If things progress as they are now I would expect great results to report. I did not want to be an Oceanic basher but I have to say that I wish I had never switched over.
