Running Carbon

I want to start running carbon using a PhosBan 150 reactor. Any brand of media work better than another? How much media should I buy? Does it hurt to run carbon 24/7 or is that overkill? TIA!

I use MarineLand brand and like it.

I put 2 cups of carbon in my Phosban reactors. only fits up to 3, maybe a little less.

there are a lot of discussions on 24/7 running; seems like most people agree there are more benefits than disadvantages, but depends on individual view. Do some searches for posts with Rick posting about carbon.

Many thanks Cliff...

Searching on "carbon" and "Rick", I found this great thread.

I run a mix of carbon and phosban in a phosban reactor. I use a ratio (by volume) of about 1:3, Phosban:Carbon. For me that is about 1/4 cup phosban and 3/4 cup carbon. Of course, I am only running on a 55g tank. I change that out once per month.

Here is a thread on Reef Central where I posted some details I got from Julian Sprung about co-running phosban and carbon.
