Rock for frags:

[I need a bunch of crushed rock for frags. I don't want to buy expensive live rock to crush up into little pieces.

What type of rock/shells/etc can I get cheap to put frags on?

Thanks,
Jason]

[While visiting Brad today, I saw that he was mounting little frags on 1" x 1" ceramic tiles. Myself, I've mounted frags on nylon bolts with Super Glue Gel, and then inserted the bolts into various crevices of my LR.]

[Yes the tiles work great. Also I have a wet saw. I have several hundred pounds of dry live rock that I have collected over the years and plan on trying to cut thin wafers for mounting frags as well.

I have used tiles, aragocrete and flower picks. I also saw online that folks were using sprinkler head filters to mount frags as well. That intriged me because they fit right in the holes of the egg crate and really keep the frags where you want them and keeps them from getting knocked over. But, the problem I have using egg crate is it blocks the water flow and it is hard to clean the built up detritus underneath. I use sand, so it is hard to get enough flow under itto keep it clean.

[I forgot. At MACNA last year, one or two small vendors had their frags mounted on plastic golf tees. One said you had to sand the surface of the tee to roughen it up, so the glue would have something to hold onto.

I found the same to be true with the nylon bolts.

And yes, my system is rather full... :bomb:]
