Well, my time has came and finally got a chance to pick up a used RO DI unit. My my question is how in the heck do I hook it up?

I had no IDEA that there where this many hoses. I thought 1 in and 1 out.

Attached is a picture, can someone please help me??? :D

There's a 2 Reds, Blue, and a white line.

I will try to take some better pictures.

thanks

Let's see.. the red line on the right looks like the supply..

The blue line looks like an output line through one of those 'taste' filters.. it actually puts a little bit of minerals back in the water to make it taste good. Obviously, that line isn't for your tank purposes, but it'd be perfect for hooking up to a refrigerator's icemaker.

The orange line is _probably_ waste, which makes the white the clean RO/DI.

OK so that orange line is the one that hooks to the holding tank(looks like a propane tank) correct? And the water in the tank not good for drinking nor reef use. I will probally use this to drain into the washing machine.

So as soon as we need good RO/DI water, we can just feed it with the Red line?

How does a auto top off unit work with this unit when there really is nothing electrical about it?

Well, no, the waste line goes with that black contraption.. it pierces a drain line to let the bad water out. You don't want to put pressure on the waste line, that will cut the amount of good water you produce. The pressure tank is usually hooked up to the output side. Typically, folks hook it up to a line before the DI (blue line in your case.) That way the RODI unit doesn't have to kick on every time you make ice or fill a glass of water.

Oh.. forgot to mention the auto topoff usage. You _can_ run a line from the RO unit directly to a float valve in your sump, but that's not recommended.

You'll need a reservoir for RO water, and then you pump water from the reservoir to the sump where a float switch turns the pump on and off based on water level.
