RO/DI Booster Pump Idea

I saw this on ebay and am thinking about trying it or something similar as a RO booster pump. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Let me know how it it works when you get it. My tank eveporates about 10 to 20 g depending on the time of the year and whether or not the A/C heater is running which tends to dry the air more.

Even if you paid $35 for it plus shipping, you're paying half of what they go for. You'll need a few more goodies to go along with it, I'm sure.

I've got several flojets that I've used for other items. These Pumps are EXTREMELY noisy and overheat very quickly. They sound on par with running a power drill at full speed. if you're wanting to use it as a booster pump for say 50 gals of water on a 100gpd unit, that's 1/2 a day of noise.
they run with a rubber impeller that tends to fail after about a 18-24 months.
If you can find a different brand, I would suggest looking into it.

Thanks for the heads up, but I actually won the auction with a bid of $15.50 so I won't feel too bad about losing money if it's too noisy. I'll post a follow up and let everyone know if it works out.

Just thought I would update this thread with my experience so far. The pump was very easy to install. I just screwed in two john guest fittings to connect it inline between my source water saddle valve and the ro/di, plugged it in and that was that. It is pretty noisy though. I would not want to have this anywhere near my living room. I have it under a bathroom sink and it is still a little loud. I think it would be great for those people who have their ro/di's in the garage or laundry room.

My water pressure is very low at my house. Before I installed the pump, I was only getting about 40 gpd out of my 110 gpd rated ro/di. After pump install I am upto around 95 gpd. There is also far less waste water than before. This is not something I will use all the time, but I will use it when I need to fill my storage trash cans up for a water change.

K-po , I just bid on one myself. Is this still working out for you ? I have my ro/di in the laundry room so noise wont be to bad .
