RKL

I just got my Reefkeeper lite, am in the process of getting setup, all im really going to be doing with this for now is using it as a wavemaker and temp controller, my question is on the wavemaker option using "random", will this benefit me at all? Im running a 75 gallon tank with 2 Hydor korrellia Evo. 1050, I was going to inititially run it at about 7 or 8 seconds to see how that works but im not sure about using random or what time lengths I would want to setup if I do use it, any insight would be appreciated.

I think the koralias have a tendency to crap out quickly when cut on/off/on a lot. Also heard they knock and get noisy at start up when being used on a timer.

I know thats not what you asked, but thought it might be worth throwing out there.

well, I had done some research on that, I read mostly that that was the older style Korelias that had that problem, the Evo ones had really good reviews on being used with wavemaker applications, guess im going to find out the old fashioned way, lol, so I will definately report back on first hand experience on that issue.

i had one older model and one newer model on a wavemaker at one time last year and although the newer model was a lot quieter, it still made a hard knocking noise when kicking on. and also sometimes, since they are mag driven, they start up in reverse.

Ok, so im hooked up now and there is a slight clicking or bump when they switch ( the click or bump is kind of random, it doesnt do it every single time it switches), its not horrible or anything, Im enjoying the effects in the tank, its going to take some tweaking to get it where I want it as far as timing and placement of the pumps over the next few days. So, if I decide to upgrade to quieter powerheads, what is the recomendation?

siccee voyagers... WITHOUT a doubt. the smallest comes in 800gph so it may be a tad bit much for you (although you can adjust the flow output). but they are SO quiet its insane...
