RKL Question on Expandability

I am researching about the Reef Keeper Lite, but have a question. It says it can interface with up to 4 additional modules.

I would like to pick and choose from SL-1, NET, and MLC. Does the four include the PC4 power strips? Meaning, can I have the SL-1, NET, and 3 PC4's or just 2 PC4's?

+1. That's where the RKL is very limited. If you have a big system or want to run multiple apps on the controller you're better off with the RKE. Many options to this unit. They give you credit for the RKL if you want to trade it in for the RKE. I think this is a pretty good deal. I believe you just return the head unit.

I'm leanin towards the RKL as a quick and somewhat expandable temp controller. My light timer went out and I need something else so $120 sounds pretty good. In the future, I think I can get by with a RKL, 8 outlets, an SL1 and maybe a network controller.

That'll work Tom. Let me tell you though, those outlets run out fast !! I think you'll be happy with the RKL and you can always upgrade if the need arises. I'm in that predicament right now. Four modules is not cutting it for me any more !!

Can you "control" the RKL from the internet using an app like iReef or just look at what the data is? I would like to be able to eventually add this functionality (with a NET module) but dont want to if I cant control it like the you can with the Neptune controllers.

I'm sure you can Tom. Check out Digital Aquatics's web site and the net module and it will tell you its capabilities. I don't have that right now. I don't really need it, as I work from home and have my eyes on my tank more than I should. OCP [smilie=lol.gif] .

Actually, I don't think you can control anything with the RKL Net module.

I've been looking into this and I think only the Aquacontroller Apex allows that (the Aquacontroller Jr doesn't either).

I have almost ditched the idea of RKL and probably going with Apex. Guess I'll have to wait a little longer!

You can control acjr thru acserial2web, but it's a pain.

If I had a small tank like a cube I'd get the RKL but i know I'm gonna need to expand more than 4 modules eventually!
