Rinsing refugium sand

How do you guys suggest i rinse out old ref sand, just pour in a bucket and rinse with fresh water? I'm concerned with the sulfur build up and the junk it will release when i move the refugium to a new location.

Yup all new sand i honestly like running mine without sand.

I'm just sharing my personal experience, your results may vary!

I rinsed about 150 lbs of DSB when I moved 2 years ago and encountered no problems at all. I did have to rinse 1/2 a 5-gallon bucket at a time and so it took a long time to rinse out completely. I moved all of my 120-G corals into the new 210-G after the sand rinse and did not lose any.
