Rics and fuzzy mushrooms

I have a bunch of baby purple rics that I would like to put in the co-op and also some fuzzy mushrooms but I am not sure how to get them off the rocks. They rics are on the lower rock so I cannot take it out of the tank but I have about 7 to 10 babies about half the size of a dime to a dime. The fuzzy shrooms seem to be attacked all the way across the bottom. They might not be but that is how it seems. Any help is greatful.

Mushrooms are some of the easiest to frag.. simply take a razor and slice/shave them off the LR. If they are in crannies, you can use a screwdriver and 'pop' the section of LR they are on off and glue it to rubble or frag disc/plug or use a heavy duty blade to cut the LR around their base.

If you use the slicing method, one of the better ways to mount them is to use a small tupperware bowel or container submerged and away from flow filled with rubble and covered with nylon or something like plastic drain screen to keep them from floating away. They will attach in about a week or so and then you lift them out and glue the rubble.

If you're going to have to cut softies in the tank I would strongly suggest running a lot of carbon and increasing the flow. They will release a bunch of slime that will cause problems. I did it in a very small tank and killed some fish from it. The water turned milky white for two days and I still had carbon running.

I can pull the rock with the fuzzy mushrooms out of the tank it is just the rics that I cannot pull out.

Lance,
if you have a HOT filter that you can load up with carbon and set the intake near where the Ric's are, you might save yourself some pain by catching the toxins and pumping them through the carbon filter. I've used this method on some of my Olive-pink Rics and it worked great.

There are several others. Some are better than others. We did our first mushrooms yesterday and it appears to have worked as instructed. We are setting up a 55g frag tank this weekend.

I hope these help
