Return with locline question

I have attached a image that shows my current return and 2 possible ways I can think to do my return with locline. Anyone have any suggestions? The return will actually use a locline with a y that splits it in half, that way I have half of it going left and half of it going right. My current setup is directly in the center going straight ahead.

My main question is do I use 2 90's (elbows) and connect the locline upwards into the return or use 3 90's and connect the locline straight into the 3rd 90?

Also, where should I drill a hole to stop back siphoning?

if you can use only one 90 if you have to then 2...the more 90's reduces the flow

I used 2 90's to get the returns over the side of the tank. Then, Locline sells a male threaded piece that goes into the PVC. After that I added a locline 90.

Drill the hole(s) in the vertical piece of pvc 1/2" below the optimal water line.

Drill at least two holes because when you need it to work, there will always be some fat snail parked right over the hole.

Start small. Test... If it don't work... go bigger.

+1 on that. I'd start with 3/16 -1/8". It needs to be enough to allow air in when the water drops to that level. Keep the holes cleaned out with a toothpick or something. Again, they will clog at the worst moment.
