return pump question

I have a 65 gallon tank with a 20 gallon sump then stand built a little taller then most. I am pumping about 5 and a half feet from the sump to the return into the tank i am useing a mag 7. think i should up grade to a mag 9?
 
is it a drilled tank or you using a overflow. at about 5' you getting about 420gph with the mag7 and 750 750gph with the mag9.5 you need to know if you got enough drain to bring it back down if its to slow to drain you will overflow your tank. Also need to know if your going to put like a phosban reactor on it or something.
 
I used a mag7 on my 58G and it was perfect. Do you plan to have other things running off of this, i.e phosban reactor , chiller etc., if so go with the mag 9.5 but be aware of the heat increase that come's with this pump and plan accordingly. :wink: Remember the important thing with mag pump's is if you don't double the output plumbing diameter, then you will not be able to achieve the GPH spec. :wink:
