return pump location

[Incaico]

For those of you that have external return pumps with returns at opposite ends of the tank where do you locate your pump? In the center behind the tank or at one end of the tank for easier access to the pump? I'm tempted to place the return pump at one one of the tank but I fear that the actual return on the opposite end of the pump will be much slower than the return that is nearest to the pump. Your thoughts?

put it at one end, but put a T in the center of the return lines to connect the return to. like this:

Thanks Wes, that is what I was leaning towards except I'd like to try and minimize the elbows and T's to reduce the flow. I guess an equal slower flow to both ends is better than a lot of flow to one return and a significant drop off to the other return.
