Removing a glass ,I believe this is the right word, brace.

I own a 55 that I've been meaning to set back up and I was wondering if anyone knew if there was a way to remove the glass brace that is in the center of my aquarium.

Thanks in advance, RH

You're probably going to want to keep that glass brace there. Most larger tanks need a top brace to keep the seams together, otherwise your tank might bow and start leaking.

The center brace is there to compensate for the thinner glass used. Don't take it out. You will end up with a wet floor eventually.

I took one out of a 75 gallon once. Only reason was ..i needed to move it temporarily for some custoomization i was doing at the time. I just kept at it with and razor knife, dremmel.....finally i just whacked it with a hammer gently...and it broke in half...which made it alot easier to get out then. I replaced the center piece later after i was done with a new piece of glass the same size and thickness. Like they all said wouldnt advise taking it out at all....becuase its very hard to get out without messing up your tank...I was lucky. It does have to be there or it will bow like crazy.

Thanks a lot everyone. I figured that it did serve a purpose.
