removal of a pistol shrimp advice

i need some advice on how to remove my pistol shrimp, ive had em for about 2 months all was well untill i saw him messing with my serpent star , the shrimp stays on the back of the tank and when hungry (since i dont have a goby for it) it comes out and looks for the star and literraly drags it to the back , my last resort will be to remove the rock and knock em out with my pinky (lol) but i want to be able to catch the little rascall first , the star fish has all of its legs munched on but still moves around and tries to regrow them, at night the pistol shoots it ( i can only think its going after the star because the clicks are atleast 10x louder than usual)

any help or advice will be greatly appreciated
