Regrowth of tissue?

[I have some M. digitata and M. capracornis that were being stung by blue button polyps. I had to take the rock out of the water to remove the buttom polyps with tweezers. The M. capracornis now has a large area that the tissue had died. The M. digitata are bare at the base where the button polyps were stinging.

In both cases will/can the corals regenerate tissue over the dead skeleton?]
 
[Yes, but it takes time. My orange Montipora foliosa got stung every time it fell into an Acropora milleopora, and each time 40% died. ARGH! However, at this point it is doing great and continues to grow on a daily basis.

Pretty darn exciting now that I think about it. :cool grin:]
