Regarding my maroon white and gold banded clown fish

I brought a maroon gold banded male and maroon white banded female clown fish from a local store. They are a mated pair. I got them about 2 weeks ago. They both do not host my anemone. They are far behind the rocks hiding most of the time and they hardly come out except when I feed the other fish. They just come out, eat and go back to their hiding spot.

Is this common?

from my experience, clown's are usually more "outgoing" and assertive, even from the start. Maybe there is a fish that they are a little "worried" about. What is their size compared to some of your other fish? These are the only clowns in your tank? As far as hosting, the GB Maroon is supposed to be the fastest clown to host, it takes time. First you need to get them out in the open, when they see the 'nem not only should the gb maroon host but it should give him/her a place of refuge rather than behind the rocks. I'm sure some of the reef pros will respond, but it could also be the condition of the water which is causing this behavior. How is their breathing if you are able to observe?

Whey they come out they seem to be fine. I tested the water quality and it seem to be ok. They eat fine and they swim out sometimes. I posted a picture of my tank and the list of fish I got in another discussion. please look at that. Thanks for your input.

from your other post...."2 Maroon Gold Banded Clown (6 inch and 2 inch)" are these the clowns that won't come out or another pair?

They are probably still getting use to the tank. If they've only been in there for 2 weeks especially. And don't worry about them not getting in your anemone. I have had my True Perculas in my tank for over 6 months and finally got them an anemone and it took them 2 weeks to get in it.

I gave mine popcorn and a movie; I took my laptop and played a video of 2 black clowns (mine are black clowns) hosting in a SRBTA. I left it on for hours and nothing. Then one night (I have moonlights) I noticed that they were in the 'nem. Funny thing is for a few days they'd have nothing to do with it during the day, only at lights out. Now they rarely leave it. And they are both ORA/tank raised so the myth that tank raised clowns won't host in a 'nme is just that, a myth.
