Refugium/sump pumps ??? which is preferred?

I have a MAG 3 (skimmer) and MAG 5 (return) in my last chamber of my fuge. No clutter because thats the only thing in there. My skimmer is external btw.
 
I use Quiet One pumps. I have 2x QO 3000's for returns to the display & prop tank (they share same sump) and a QO 4000 for the skimmer.
 
my 90 has an internal quiet one 3000, its does not put out much heat. another member recently tested a mag vs a QO in a 40 breeder sump and the mag heated the water more than twice as much. for my new tank i have an external reeflo snapper pump, didnt want any heat transfer.
 
external pumps are nice as they dont add heat to the water and seem to be more efficient gallons pushed out per watts used.

internal pumps are nice as you dont have to worry about bulkhead leaking or the a seal start leaking as you do external.

I perfer reeflo dart for external...great customer service...had a pump go bad and they replaced it no questions asked.

you also have to ask your self what are going to use it for is it plain return only if so internal might be the perferable choice. But if you have plans to add Ca reactor, chiller or multible media reactors external might be the way to go
