Refugium for Oceanic 29 biocube

Is there anyway to install a real refugium on a oceanic biocube 29 in order to have a supply of pods for the tank...I have been out of the hobby for over a year and just bought the tank and it is cycling now...any help will be appreciated

Here is a good website for modifications to biocubes, I plan on changing the whole filter system and go with the ones on this site.

Hope this helps.

I would go with two options in the biocube.

1. Tunze 9002 Skimmer and inTank Media Basket.
2. inTank refugium basket and inTank media basket.

I'm running option 1. I have filter floss in the first layer, carbon in the second layer, and chaeto in the bottom of the media basket. Right next to it, there is the Tunze 9002 DOC nano-skimmer with an inTank skimmer cup.

Both options are in the middle chamber.

Poke around on that website and look at the different options. Those are the easiest to work with.

Another option, if you keep up on water changes, is to go filter less. I had the rubble rock refugium in the middle chamber, and kept getting detrius and cyano all the time. Took all of that out, have a bag of purigen just hangning there, and filterfloss (polyfill) where chamber 1 flows into chamber two, and have been very happy with it. I feed heavy, but I also do a weekly 5 gallon water change.

I just bought a bio 29 and ordered a 150w metal halide retro from nanotuners. I will be drilling it at the top of the third chamber so I can install a 14.5x18 refugium in the stock cabinet. I have a tunze 9002 skimmer that I will leave in compartment 2. If you drill your bio cube at the bottom of chamber 3 all of that chamber and chamber 2 is now wasted space so the make more room in the fuge I will drill at the top of chamber 3 so that 2 and 3 are full and can house my skimmer. I will eventually put a build log up when I start my light mod in about a month.
