Reeflo using new HUGE motor on all of their new DART pumps..

So, I just got a replacement because the bearings were bad on my dart pump...

They are now using new motors, and the new ones are about 3 times as big...

I've emailed the owner of reeflo with a few questions about the new motors and will update when I hear back.

I believe those are the new "gold" series pumps, which use a very nice Baldor motor. Better efficiency and reliability, at least from what I've read, but much bigger.

No, those are the regular series...

I called reeflo when I got it in, to make sure, and my LFS said they have gotten a few others in lately, and they all had the new motor.

This is definitely not the gold series.

That was the difference with the gold series, the baldor motor. They were switching all models to that motor, at least that is what the rep said at CRASE. The larger pumps are now using a new motor as well, Marathon.

ugh, you sent it in and received a larger pump back?! that would sux, id be pissed. that is definately what they have switched to, and the baldor pumps are supposed to be a little better, but there is nothing wrong with the older smaller series IMHO and that is a big bulky pump. i couldnt even replace my current reeflo pump if thats what they sent me. just wouldnt fit.

I'm happy I got the new one, I decided to scrap my wet dry while I'm replacing the pump anyways.

I bought a 4 foot long giant sump, and I'm plumping now. So it worked out okay for me.

I asked:
We have gotten several dart pumps in recently and have noticed that the motors on them are MUCH bigger than they used to be. I was just wondering what kind of results you guys have had with the new motors as far as: How does the noise level compare? Electricity usage? Flow? and lastly said:
Reeflo's response:

i work as an electrician/technician and I love baldor pumps plus they are real easy to come by for me if i needed a new one. Makes me want to go out and ask them if i can get just the pump body then find out which motor i need. I can get them at a good price. Looks like a 65c frame to me. Plus if you wanted to you could hook it up to 220v motor to increase efficiency.

Well, I'm running the new DART I got... It is quieter than the old one! The old one wasn't loud, don't get me wrong, but this one is a bit quieter :D

I recieved this one as well with my Reeflo Orca skimmer and it is super quiet.

Make no mistake, it is not the GOLD series. The Gold series uses a different motor and it also has built in aluminum heat sinks.

I really like the baldor motor and for those of you who have the AO smith, the baldor will fit in the same place as it is still smaller than the pump housing/impellar. .......WES.
