has anyone had any experience or heard anything about these things?? my thoughts were that it would be good to have control of the lights and temperature with one unit, and i was going to pay 120 for a temp controller alone - any thoughts/??

basically, i need something to control my temperature (fans or heater) lights (vhos and moonlights), and perhaps my calcium reactor - ph mechanism?? - now the reefkeeper won't do the ph

GeorgeOrnsdorff has one. You can PM him, unless he stumbles across this thread.

I've got one. I've had it for about a year. It's nice. No pH, but the last time I emailed digital aquatics, they were working on a new controller to control pH. Don't know when they will release it though. If you need to be able to control the pH, might want to look into the ac jr.

Chris

thanks chris and marc -

i have emailed aquacontroller jr people and are waiting to hear back on what all i need to control the 3 functions (lights, temp and pH) - i am hoping, that it will be more efficient to go with the ac jr and not that much more $$ by the time i would buy a dual controller and pH controller - probably close to $200 for those two used, so, for a little more to have it new and with more functions makes sense - i think!

I've got the aquacontroller Jr and it controls those 3 things. I got it with the RC Group buy from Premium Aquatics. The controller, lab grade ph controller, and the dc8 (8 plug control) cost a little less than $275. I think it is a great investment.

thanks - i contacted the reefkeeper company and they stated that there was a reefkeeper II that would control ph also, but, it is in the testing phase - not sure when it will be ready

for those of you interested, digital aquatics said they are planning to have their new reefkeeper II ready to go in late january- it will be able to control pH as a new feature

Nice. I wonder if they are going to allow older Rk to be swapped. I'd like to be able to control my kalk reactor via pH along with my ca reactor.

Chris

i agree, i have emailed them to see what they say about the older ones - but, i bet they just recommend you upgrade by buying the new one!!

Yea, I emailed Scott yesterday b/c I think that I blew a fuse sometime during the night. I asked him about the RK2 and he said that they won't be able to swap them out, that they will be a totally new device. I guess I'll see how much they are, then I'll consider upgrading. If the pH controller is the only new feature that I like, I doubt that I'll upgrade.

Chris

yes, here is what he stated in response to my question ..

The new ReefKeeper2 will an all new unit. We will still be selling the
current model for the time being. It's not a matter of a simple upgrade
as they are two different units. We will not be offering an
exchange/upgrade program. We have been responding to emails letting
people know that's it's coming out, and if they want it they should
wait. We've tried to give at least 3 months notice

completely understandable and i will have to evaluate them also.
