Reef screen saver - Interest

[I'm not sure if this post would go here, so feel free to move it if necessary.

I would like to know if there's any interest in having a reef screensaver for your personal use. I wanted one for myself, so I gathered pics from the gallery here at DFWMAS, and made a screensaver from them. I also used some pics from Marc's site. I don't want to step on anyone's toes, so I'm asking if anyone would be offended by me using their pics...I don't remember specifically who I used, I just picked what I thought was cool. I don't want any money, I just wanted to reshare these pics in a different format. I would host the screensaver on my own site, and anyone would be free to download it at no cost, or anything else. Please voice your opinion Good or bad and let me know...if I have no objections by April 2, I will upload it to my site and post the download link here.

THanks
Adam

[I'd like to see it when it is done.

Travis (Reef-Life Photography) offers a screen saver for $5, I think.]

[That seems a tad rude. He did PM me the URL to see it, but the link did not work. We agreed in a PM that I'd take a look at it first.]

[True, but that was on the 1st, and the written word can come across pretty harshly at times.

Happy reefing!]

[No hard feeling's clown. You just wish you had 140 gal phyto station like me... :D

Sorry that it took me so long to write back marc, but I was doing some water changing and some aquascaping...know anyone that needs some holey rock. I bought way too much. I'll post that in the sale forum here soon.

As for the rest of you all, I FTP'd the file to Marc for review, since tripod was being a pain.

[Overall, it looks good to me. I don't see why it would bother anyone unless they didn't want their image used.

I sat through about 5 minutes worth, and saw lots of images, but like with any random program, I started seeing more and more repeats. I'm guessing I saw the majority. Unregistered Copy was a little annoying to me, so I give it a B . ;)]

[Not to step on anyone's toes, but if you have Windows XP there is a screen saver built into the operating system called "My Pictures Slideshow." You basically point it at a directory and it will randomly show pictures from that directory (and optionally any subdirectories), including using PowerPoint style transitions between pictures. It's pretty cool for free, I have hundreds if not thousands of pictures of my kids that I use on mine :)

So theoretically, if someone was able to host an image bank, people could d/l the images they liked and use them with the screen saver (assuming you had XP).]

[Will, I've used that before, and I have to tell you, I was amazed at the stuff that would appear across my screen. Not only reef shots, but plumbing, little silly acrylic projects, sumps, refugiums, and more all scroll across the screen reminding me of all the stuff I've photographed over the years.

It really wasn't a screensaver as much as it was a trip down memory lane. :smart:]

[Will, that Windows screensaver is what got me started on this thing...But instead of hosting the pics, I just complied them for ease of use, but anyone could dl thier own pics. In fact, that might be a better idea, cause what's cool to me might not be cool to someone else. All my pics came from the gallery and melevsreef.
