Reef-safe epoxy that cures underwater?

Hi everyone,

I've been removing rocks from the tank to secure frags, but I'd rather not disturb the entire rockwork to attach a frag. Is there an epoxy that can cure under water? I know many different kinds of plumbers putty and similar products for boats and stuff like that can cure when wet. I'm worried those might release harmful chemicals into my tank, though. Is there a reliable product anyone swears by that will harden underwater and not throw off my water parameters?

Thanks!
andrew

Marine epoxy from homedepot, mighty putty, and instand ocean epoxy are all the same. Should be green with white in the middle.

You just can't use too much or skimmer acts up. Oceans wonders sells a corraline colored epoxy but I just use the grey stuff from brs

I saw the instant ocean brand at the N Garland Petsmart for $6.99.

Thanks everybody! I'll probably snag the stuff mmiller suggested, as I have to get some hamster stuff at Petco soon, anyway. I've got all sorts of two-part epoxies (Green Stuff, Brown Stuff, couple kinds of milliput, plumbers putty, etc) from my wargaming/modeling hobby, but it's probably best to get the stuff specifically designed to go into a reef tank. Thanks for your help, everyone!

I was told that any epoxy used for plumbing water pipes was safe for your aquarium, and so, I bought the Oatey Fix-It Stick. I have not used any yet. I just looked at the ingredients on their web site, and it states that it has no solvents and is non toxic, but it also states that it is "steel filled". That doesn't sound good, does it?

Thanks!

Petsmart sells instant ocean epoxy for $6 - $7. They also sell Reef Crystals buckets for only $60 said:
Hi Phillip!

Which Petsmart? I don't think that they all have those items.

It's the Petsmart at 360 & I-20. Right next to Sam's. I was really surprised with the pricing too. said:
I am surprised that they stock it, and with the pricing, too! Thanks!

The epoxy usually isn't too sticky so a small amount of superglue on the epoxy makes sure it sticks to where you want it.
