Reef Octo BH-1000

well i went ahead and put in on the tank after a breif bath in warm water and vinegar, already getting a nice foam column coming out the top of this bad boy. However, I am also getting a TON of microbubbles in my tank and I can not stand it the slightest. Does anyone have a suggestion?

I have a BH-2000. Mine went away after the 1st week. Also at about the 3 week mark I had to start putting at the bottom of the "water line" marks when matching it to the water line. Otherwise the skimate wasn't very thick and I had to empty it every 2 days. It was removing lots of stuff, but was very diluted. Now its dark and thick.

I'm going to upload some pictures and if I can a video. Is there suppose to be a "port" hole on the side of the main chamber that drains into the return?

ok so im getting a few less micro bubbles, not just the big ones from the drain but the skimmer does nothing, im sure its still in its break in period but it just bubbles half way up the next and no foam just bubbles popping in the neck. Suggestions?

Well the skimmer I guess has found its comofort zone, im getting a lot less bubbles and a lot better foam, hopefully it will continue. I have been running a little lower water level in the tank, not sure if water level of the tank affects the overall skimmer performance.

I must say I am suprised more people didnt have more expierance with this skimmer.

WOW!!! What a machine of a skimmer, easily the best HOB skimmer ive ever owned. Its still breaking in and its pulling all kinds of gunk out of the tank. Its skimming I wouldnt say wet but not as dry as ive seen on others but man the stuff smells bad lol.

I was able to toss the blue sponge as its really not needed at all. Additionally, the "port hole" on the side that drains into the return seems to have a very minimal effect on the bubbles in the tank now as they are few and far between.
