Redbugs be GONE.

I recently picked up a very pretty frag of purple tabling acro that had redbugs. Since I qt, they had no chance to make it into my main systems. I decided to give the Bayer Advanced Complete insect killer a try. A quick google will find you many threads about it, and how effective it is in dealing with bugs on our corals. Since I had very little money invested, I made a quick run to home despised and grabbed a bottle. I put 5cc's into 2 cups of tank water, and dropped the frag in. Let it set for 10 minutes, then used two clean saltwater rinses to make sure I removed all traces of the dip before returning the frag to my qt. Here is a before shot, you can see the evil redbugs on it.

Here is the shot I took this morning (it was dipped last night). No redbugs, and pretty little polyps out all over everywhere.

Since that worked so well. I also dipped a Garf Bonsai that has been doing very poorly for me. I didn't see anything come off in the dip cup, but this morning it has pe for the first time in weeks, as does the monti that I dipped that was just flat out sick.

I'm impressed, and I am adding this to my arsenal of dips for incoming corals and frags.

Do take note, this stuff is deadly poison to anything with a developed nervous system (crabs, snails, fish, etc). Use two clean saltwater rinses to make sure you get it off before putting anything back in your tank. I have crabs and snails in the tank where these frags went, and they all look fine this morning with no bad effects.

Good to hear. I read the info on the Bayer treatment and have purchased some to have ready also.

I've been dipping with bayer for a few weeks now. Love it. Seems like the corals look 100 times better after the dip and ALL pest are gone.

I'm in love with the stuff. My acros are so happy this morning, the pe is unreal. And the monti is extending polyps for the first time in what seems like forever.

i haven't gotten around to trying this yet, but I will soon just as a preventive. I also hear that it will kill AEFW.

Are yall dipping all sorts of corals in the bayer, or are you only using it for SPS. Would be nice if it could be used for elimination of pita zoa/paly predators too.

I've dipped everything in it, but am currently only using it for incoming SPS. Seems to do well on zoas, I just don't leave them in as long.

I just dipped some acans, a chalice, and some zoas this morning to see how they respond. I will post here with the results.

One thing I have been told, Palythoa Grandis does not respond well to this dip and tends to die, so I won't be trying that one, LOL.

here is a thread i started last year it has link to rc thread that has info on it. this stuff works great have not tried it on aefw never had a reason too knock on wood

Where do we purchase some of this stuff -- wouldnt mind having it on hand. Has anyone had to dose their entire tank with it -- how did ya filter it out? (Just thinking ahead in case the worse ever happens.)

I got mine Wally world. Jim don't repeat Do not dose this in your tank it is only a dip. You will kill all the fish and inverts if you dose this into the tank it would prob nuke the tank with the die off

Glad that was added as a warning to this thread. :)

I dont have pests in my tank at this time but if I did, I would have to remove all the corals into a hopital tank and treat them. Guess they would have to stay out a long time for them to die off in the system while the corals sit in another tank being treated?

There must be a better solution. Oh, yes, I understand this is a dip for corals you get in prior to putting them in your tank but some have them slip through anyway.

And to be honest,in general, quarentine/dipping has caused me lose more corals than anything. Guess I am just not doing something right.

I have been using it for months. I use 5ml per 1 cup and let corals sit 5 mins. It works great and I have never lost a coral from it.
