red slime in my tank

how do I get rid of red slime in my tank...does running carbon help eliminate red slime or need more circulation...need help..

where can I get it locally....or do I have to order it.....wonder if DNA or Fish gallery would have .....

Cyano can be part of the natural cycle of competing organisms in a tank's life. Or it can be the symptom of a nutrient imbalance, or old bulbs, or low flow.. lots of things can cause it.

While products like chemi-clean and red slime remover will kill the cyano, they don't address the core problem, whatever it is.

If you have cyano smothering corals, a chemical product may save the corals, but if at all possible, consider siphoning out the cyano as you work on figuring out what the true problem is (if one exists at all.)

mrb,
We have a couple of unused extra bottles if I remember correctly. Since your location is not shown in you profile/posting, I'm not sure it would be worth your while, but if you can't find it locally then send us a PM and I'll make sure I can find them and work out a price/pickup if that helps.

My tank has been running for about 2month....maybe too new...it's only on my sand (just a little) I just don't want it spread on my coral...I pick up about 2 dozen snail last night...let see how it does when I get home. Im in a process of getting a new skimmer but I don't know which one to get...Euroreef -which model (don't know yet) either a CS400 or RC250-RC500

I haven't had much luck with so-called cyano eating snails, crabs, etc. but they may help eat some of the waste that's fueling the growth. The skimmer will definitely help, too.
