red sea wavemaker

can anyone tell me if SEIOs can be ran on a red sea wavemaker said:
I tried this, it worked but made a hell of a racket....so much that I put them back up for sale the same day. I have also heard of broken shafts when using the red sea with the seio's, using the seio controller is probably better. I know there are several way's to get flow in your tank but I tried the 4 maxi-jet's(great pumps), flow mod's etc., ect., before I finally decided to buy the vortech's. After I sold off all of the different wavemakes and pumps, I had enough to pay for the first vortech so in the end, it wound up being the same amount of money for a much better product imo. Since you are thinking about a bigger tank when you get your house, I would suggest buying something that will work with whatever you choose to do. I'm not saying go spend cash on a vortech I'm just saying that you should figure out what you want/need longterm, spend the money once and be set.

seeing how the house thing may not be ready for (at most hopefully) a year. I'm looking for something now and and did not want to shell out money for tunze yet. I was debating using a red sea wave maker running my korelia 4s and maxi jets with sure flow mods. Or using seios on a timer (friend gave me these) I would like to have some kind of a wavemaker for at least 2 on my powerheads.

I do have modded and non modded maxi-jets, korelia 4s, and seios, so just trying to find what would work best with what I got onhand. Not using them all, just trying different combinations of mixing powerheads.

Thanks, Ron for all your suggestions.

Even though the RS Pro is soft start, the problem is most of the controllable powerheads are not designed for on/off operation, they are all designed to ramp down to a low power output and the ones that are not controllable, don't do well with quick on/off.

Your best bet with the RS Pro would be modded Maxi's. They hold up very well. The Koralias, Seios, Tunzes etc all have restart issues or in the case of the Koralias, wear out faster.

Like Ron said, in the end you may end up better off with the output of cash up front instead of constant changes, fiddling and time/aggravation. All you have to decide then is which ones to go with, Vortec or Tunze...

I have ran these for several years until I upgraded to echo tech's.
IMO the maxi jets are the best power heads to use with these wave makers.
I also used them with maxi jets with the mod kits but if you dont get them modified just right they will kick on backwards as maxi jets can run either way.
