Recommendation on Whole House filtration for fish

Hi. I'm new here. I wanted to know if anyone uses a whole house filtration unit for incoming water for fish. I'm thinking of getting one and needed recommendations or suggestions for companies that are reputable. I'm thinking of using this for my fish only tank to get better water instead of a R/O DI unit.

Thanks

George

You can do it and it shouldn't be an issue. the only problem i would say is that normally whole house ones are RO only and so if you want zero or even close TDS you'll still have to DI before your tank. And in fact many home filters are just basically the prefilters on our RODI systems which is that's the case then you'll definitly still have high TDS so it will be better then treated tap but will still not even be close to RODI.

Also,

My father in law owned car washes (like the kind where you drive thru or use the bays and put quarters in.)

Well, his "spot free" rinse water is simply RO filtered water, minus the charcoal and DI stages. You could check with ZEP, Eagle-1 and catalogs like Grainger for multiple hundred GPD systems.
