R/O Water filter

can anyone please help me install a R/O DI water filter under my sink? i have tried but not sure what i am doing wrong. i have peirce the pipe, got one tube to that and to the "IN" part of the filter but how do i control the water?

Did you put on a saddle valve to connect to the feed?

You can also splice in a shut off valve near the unit.

Where are you located (I see Frisco, but where in Frisco)?

i'm on eldorado and custer. i just hooked up everything but i think there is still a leak and something is not right. is the water suppose to come out slow?

There will be way more waste water than production water.

Open to a quick visit to your place if you want to PM me location details.

Yes, the water will come out quite slowly out of the RO line or the DI line. The waste water will come out more quickly.

It can take 60 minutes or more to make 5g of RO or RO/DI water.

The leak definitely needs to be fixed. Where exactly is it leaking?

i'm not quite sure of where it is leaking. am i suppose to let the waste water come out at the same time as when the DI water is? PM sent fperkins

I live right around the corner I can come over tomarrow nite and take a look for you.

Can u shut the water off where its not leaking?

this is the unit that i have. the odd thing is there is no waste water by design. i was wondering is this is right or not. please comment. http://cgi.ebay.com/Aquarium-RO-2-DI-125GPD-Reverse-Osmosis-Water-Filter_W0QQitemZ120047523162QQihZ002QQcategoryZ20684QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

There should still be waste water with that unit. I have the same thing with carbon instead of the additional DI filter.

so, do i open up the waste pipe a little some water escape? if so how much do i open it? if possible can yyou post up a pic of you filter setup so i can see how you're running your tubes? i know it's a lot to ask for, but it will be greatly appreciated.

Chuck,

The unit says to close the ball valve restrictor to the water through the membrane and open it to allow all water to pass over the membrane to wash it off.

Closed, it does not sound like any water is coming from the drain line and the output line flows in a stream. Open it all goes into the drain line.

Is this how yours functions?

Oh, he has the leaks fixed.

thank for the offer, frank just came by and looked at it. he said it is basically hooked up correctly. but he is suprised at how fast the water is coming out and how little to no waste water is coming out. if you are still willing to drop by any help will be welcome and appriciated.

Steve,

Check pg 7, item 2A. You may want to pull the discharge line and check for flow. It says it restricts it but the "bad" stuff is discharged.

However, my unit is dripping water and yours runs like a stream. Please do let me know if you get a TDS meter the in and out readings. As we discussed if yours is 0 I will replace my Kent with the one you have. There is simply no way I can produce water at the rate yours does.

Frank.

hey frank, i just took the waste line out of the drain and there is water coming out w/ the restrictor closed all the way. the water flow seem to be 1/1 so it is still not wasting as much water as how you described from your unit. i'll let you know how things go when i have it tested with the TDS. the bad thing is, i got water ALL under my sink again

Thanks - glad to know there is some waste. Should have pulled that tube last night.

Messy business isn't it? One or two more times and that part should be over.

I will be interested in the TDS readings when you get them from Mark.

The in-line meter we talked about: http://www.marinedepot.com/md_viewItem.asp?idproduct=RO1312

SNT, I live in Frisco Heights subdivision, which should be very very close to you (Corner of Eldorado and Custer). I hooked up my RO/DI system about 2 weeks ago. That in no way makes me an expert, but I thought if you want you can look at mine and see if there is something hooked up differently or I can come look and see if I notice anything. Mine produced the RO water very slowly, and you can hear the waste water running into the drain as I fill up the container.

PM me and let me know.
