R.I.P foxface. Beware picture.

I am so pissed off :x . I have recently switched to koralia 4s because they were supposed to be better and this is what i get. I have alwaysed used maxi jets moded and should not have switched. Why would anyone sell something that there is a possibillity that this could happen. He was my favorite fish and got him from another member two years ago and they had him for four or five years. This makes me so made. Not to mention one of my Ice Cap ballast went out to day and i got it one month ago from another member. When it rains it pours. :x :x

[ BEWARE YOUR KORALIA'S]

I decided that it would not be a good idea to post the pic. I will send it to koralia. And yes this fish was very healthy and happy.

How exactly did the Koralia kill the fish? If it got stuck to the intake, then chances are the fish wasn't in as good of health as it may have seemed.

Fish are equipped with an organ known as the lateral line which allows them to sense water movement and pressure. Something like a powerhead would definitely seem like a bad place to be and is typically avoided.

I've run Koralia's for quite some time without issue.

I've had an anemone meet a hydro, but it lived. Was the pump running all the time? I had that fear when I would have the pump off for the night, a fish would sit in there and then it'd come on...

Every time I turn up my vortech to full speed, my yellow tang always gets sucked into it, last time I caught him wiggling his fins millimeters away from the propeller. I switched now to a wireless, now it gives him time to get away as the wave maker decreases the power. These fish are not equipped to deal with our artificial toys, you can buy one of those foam pads that go on the vortech, they also fit koralia 4, but it makes the pump look ugly and even larger.

I'm also curious to know how it killed the fish, it runs max 1200 gph, did you do any mods to it, like the impeller switch? If I decrease my vortech anywhere below 3000gph, my yellow tang just takes off right away, but it probably depends on the size and strength of individual fish.

I run a Koralia 4 in my octo tank. When I first got the pump it would climb on the pump and engulf it in its arms and webbing, rip it off the glass, stick its arm tips in without losing them. Jumps off without issues. Mainly switched because people told me their nudibranch's climb all over them without getting sucked in.

I'm sorry about your loss.

I am really curious as to what happened. I have been thinking of getting a Koralia 4 since I hear so much positive with them. I have lost several fish, nudi's and a LTA to MJ's, so I am not to keen on them. They have however, continued to work for nearly 5 years.

my koralia chopped up my first rose anemone that decided to go wandering so i can kind of understand your pain

That's pretty amazing. I have a tiny clown fish that I have seen get sucked toward the Koralia (3) and he was able to turn on the boosters and get away. That's a mighty big fish to get sucked up.
