Does anyone have experience with the Quite One 4000 pumps? Are they has good or better then mags?

Is there a chart with GPH loss on height anywhere? I know they said only 10.5 max head which is lower then Mag 9.5's

Any help would greatfully be thanked.

Thanks... The one I was looking at was the 4000 NON high head pump. This thing looks like it looses a lot of head presure!

I was going to use it as a return pump on my dual corner RR 120. As of now, I am running a mag12, which is all that I have for circulation. The mag 12 uses 110W and the quite one is only 50W.

I'm thinking of using the 4000 with just a modified mj1200.

I've got 3 Quiet One pumps running my system... A 6000 is the main return to my 150, a 4000 feeds my 20 gallon long anemone tank, my chiller, and my 55 gallon refuguim, and a 3000 feeds my 40 gallon anemone prop tank...

I've been very happy with all of them...

It sucks enough power, one of the things on my to-do list is replace the single Quiet One 6000 with a pair of Quiet One 4000's... Two 4000's will have 500 GPH more flow, at under 2/3 the power consumption (Plus give me redundancy)...

I don't have the numbers handy, but it's I think a little over 3 times the power draw of a 4000...

reading the posts, these can be ran internal or external. they have cooling fins bulit in so external will be great.

cool, i think i'm going to change out my Mag for this and run it externally. should cut down 1-2 degree and noise.

You're gonna be real hard pressed to beat Drs. Foster and Smith's current sale price on any of the Quiet One pumps:

I run a Quiet One 4000 as a return on my 120. This is actually my second pump as the first had some serious issues with restarting. Pentair said they had made a change to the rubber stopper on the motor side of the impeller shaft that was supposed to correct this problem and drop shipped a replacement free of charge.

The second pump doesn't seem to have quite the same issue (although, I can't tell any difference in the stopper on the "new model"), but is prone to restart failures due to calcium buildup on the ceramic shaft. It seems to be less of an issue lately, possibly because the shaft has had some time to break in. Just something to keep in mind.

You will not get twice the flow from two pumps run is parallel. You can usually figure at about 60 to 75 percent of the combined flow for the two pumps depending on the header configuration. If you have two separate systems they do add up. :)

Dennis,
Sorry, I should have been more explicit, I didn't mean to run them in parallel, I meant to run them in serial...

(My tank has 2 overflows and 2 returns, and my eventual plan is to run a single Quiet One 4000 on each of the 2 returns)

I tried a 3000 on my 125 when I set it up and it just would barely flow with my system. I used 3/4" piping with a split to each return. They are really low head. I went to a mag12. It might work with two, one for each return line. :)

well, i think i have a mag5 at the moment (it's grey w/ out labels) and it seem to be pushing water ok. although it's just going single line to my tank w/ nothing else to it.
