Quick lighting ?'s

[Ok I just got everything I though I need to build my hood home. I started putting together the lighting and it didn't have a plug just 2 wires (black and white). What do I need to get to make this plug into the wall. The light it a cheap 2 bulb system from home depot with an electric ballast.

Next what the best way to attach the lighting to the lid? just drill some screws threw lid or what? How much harder would it be to scrap the metal casing it's in and put it directly on lid?]

[Yikes...I don't know about scrapping the metal casing, since it's not originally made for tank use. You're probably breaking some serious firecodes on that one (of course, aren't we all in one way or another?). A pic would help us figure out how to attach it.

About making it plug into the wall. Go BACK to HD and look near the extension cords. You should find appliance cords that have the black and white wires, as well as a green grounding wire. Make sure that you get a heavy duty one that can handle the wattage of the lights. Also, go to the electrical aisle and get little plastic cap/cone-shaped looking things that are meant to put wires together. Just ask someone that works there to show you what I'm talking about - I forget what they're officially called.]

[It's all wired up now I just need to find out how to attach it to the lid. anyone know the best way to do it.
I'll try to get a pic.]

[If it is a standard shop light you should be able to pull the cover off that hides the ballast and wiring. Once the cover is off you will see the 2 hole or points where screws can be drilled through.]
