Questions on Feeding / Pump and how often

I feed every day and turn my pumps off for 30 min. while feeding to prevent food from going into overflow and ending up in my filter socks. I leave my powerheads on to move the food around the entire tank so everything gets a chance to eat (corals Included). If you have a tank controller, you can program a feed cycle that will shut things off and then turn them back on in the sequence you prefer.

Thanks, yea I ordered some X10 automation so I could you my computer to program everything. I have been turning everything off so I need to switch my overflow and turn it off so the food doesn't settle to the ground. I figured as much but felt it was worth asking

Are we talking about fish or coral? Or both? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk said:
Great point as who is getting fed deeply effects the way I feed. If coral broadcast I turn off return pump but leave flow pumps on, if coral target I turn off return and powerheads, if fish I only turn off return. Apex with four feed modes makes this a breeze!

When I feed the fish I have a sinking pellet food my clowns won't come to the surface, when I feed corals I broadcast reef chili/reef roids I turn the return off and leave flow on for 15 min, turn flow off for another 15 then finally resume normal flow both return and power head

I feed fish 2-3 times a day with Mysis, krill or pellet. I feed corals 2-3 times a week. I use the Mysis or krill. I leave pumps on for both. I find LPS can grab the meaty food when target fed, so no need to turn pumps off.
