Questions about DAS system

I am interested in buying a 85 gal DAS corner tank, but I have always had reef ready with built in overflow boxes. Just don't know anything about this type of system. Would I be better off to stick with RR tank.

My first 115g was a DAS but I converted it using an overflow box. I ran a sump and the filter system for about 2 months until the sump was well established.

During that time, the spong filters always got full of junk and I had a difficult time keeping nitrates low.

I don't use a sump for my DAS. I also removed the sponge, I've heard too many people say they are Nitrate factories. I filled up that chamber with rubble rock.
