questions about BRS GFO reactor

i was looking at investing in one of these reactors to run gfo and my question is, does the reactor come with the connector to connect the powerhead to it? and if so do i have to use a MJ1200? i have a few powerheads laying around that are prolly about the same GPH and would like to use one of those if they will work. thx also, if anyone has one for sale, please LMK

you dont have to use the maxi-jet 1200 but it hooks up to it perfectly with the connector they give you. Its really about the right size pump for the correct flow in my opinion for carbon and gfo though. If your going to use it for bio-pellets you might want something bigger. Im talking about the single stage version.

thanks Bev. might take u up on that offer. i want to run GFO in it because i'm having a bit of a hair algae outbreak. need to get it under control. thx for the input

This might sound a bit out there, but whats you bio load vs feedings? How old is the tank? Any new additions?

I have a 75g with a 20long sump. I've got 2 tangs bout 3-4 inches, 3 fire fish, a scooter blenny, cleaner wrasse, and a blue damsel. I feed a cube a day between 2 tanks so about 3/4 a cube. I thaw out the cube then blot the water out with a papertowel, then add a few drops of zoe and a drop of garlic extreme. I've got a euroreef rs 80 skimmer that is rated way above my gallonage and I have a homemade reactor with carbon and phosguard. Tank has been up for about 5 months and I do biweekly to weekly waterchanges, depending on if I have time to do it, but minimal bi weekly. Anything else ? :p

Sorry two tangs in a 75?

Anything disappeared recently? Have any hermits or snails unaccounted for? Anything that might have died?

How old are the lights and what type of lights? How long are they on for during the day?

Tried cutting back feedings or at least amount?

Yes. I have a yellow and a hippo. Nothing unaccounted for. I run my lights for 8 hrs a day. I have 2 48" reefbrites all royal blue and 4 pc 65w bulbs and the pcs are 3 months old. I had a bad brown slime algae bloom a little over a month ago and then it turned into turf hair algae. Figured my tank wasn't broke in yet and at the time I had bought a couple halides and switched to them, then algae bloom, so I took them down and went back to the pcs and its all cleared up now. Just left this green turf stuff. Didn't really think I was feeding too much. For the ammount of fish that are in there I feel its about right. They would eat more if I fed them but I don't wanna overfeed..
