Question about lighting

I meant to get it into the original post, but what about the blue actinics? Is there a wattage on those. When a fluorescent product is described as VHO and PC, what is the difference?

Thanks for the info.

When I was using a 90 gallon, I had 2 46.5 actinic vho (110watts ea)
and 2 x 250 watt single end halides with 10k Ushio bulbs. I could grow anything in that tank, and had softies, lps , sps, and clams.

vho and pc do have wattage ratings on them.
4 foot vho are 110 watts, and come in 48 inch and 46.5 inch.
pc lights as I remember only go up to 36 inches and they are rated at 96 watts ea.
vho bulb is a round tube filled with gases, pc bulbs are dual bulbs run parallel with each other. The vho and pc definately have a bit of a different look vs each other.
Don't forget there is a 3rd option which is T5 lighting. Personally have not used T5 but have heard good things about them. Less heat, less power usage by wattage, but great intensity and PAR.

Hope this helps

I personally would stay away from PCs and would stick with VHOs or T5s. I hate the way PC look, never seem very bright, and I much prefer the look of either VHOs or T5s

i agree with Jason here. Vho imho look better than pc in actinic. I had 50/50 pc on a 125 aggressive tank and it was very nice look. I started with pc on a few reefs years back and converted them to vho after 6 mos.
However pc bulbs intensity and par seem to last a while longer than vho.
