I am looking for people to tell me what is wrong/right with this idea.
Instead of a QT tank that you break down and clean everytime, I want to set up a fish only tank with some live rock and sand. I will keep a few chromis ( or another cheap fish) in it to keep it active. Then I would use it as a QT tank for new fish before adding them to my tank/ or a hospital tank if need. I would use copper in this tank. If a fish has a disease you can treat it. After the fish is removed the chromis will remain. If they show no sign of disease after another 3-4 weeks. The tank is clean. If not treat the tank again.
The main thing I see wrong is making the poor little chromis lab rats. But I think I could live with it
What am I not thinking of? BTW I am only doing this way because I am lazy and don't want to keep setting up a new tank for QT everytime I get an new fish, plus the QT is in my home office and I can sit sand look at it also.
Thanks
