qt tank

hi everyone, i am planning on starting a qt tank using an existing hob filter. can i use a ten gallon to qt my fish, this is the cheapest option and it won't take up too much space. the copper banded butterfly i currently have has developed a cloudy eye and some ich on its body. i really want to save this beautiful specimen. any pointers on getting him out? thanks
 
wow!!! i just caught him out! i'm sooo thrilled! i waited about five days now trying to get the sucker out. i did a quick fresh water dip and it seemed to knock off alot of the ick. i am probably going to do the hyposalinity method. i was just thinking of it then i checked my post. thanks matt for the advice. btw, the fish is about 3 inches. he's just chilling in the bottom of the ten right now. hope he makes it.... :roll:
 
make sure you have a piece of pvc of some kind of shelter the fish can hide in , or you will cause more stress for him.
