Pygmy seahorse: Hippocampus bargibanti

I won't pretend to understand this, but apparently their in CITES Appendix 2 and IUCN Red List:

I Googled around and couldn't find any captive bred ones for sale, but one site mentioned you could quite often get a few hitchhikers of these guys by buying wild caught specimens of their specific Gorgonians that they live on...

(Pictures of them on their hosts here:

so they are more or less, threatened, haha. i've seen them on Planet Earth, i don't think you'd be able to get one anywhere around here, at least.

I found this site... However since they're not readily available I wonder if its morally responsible to buy them. They're very tiny so I'm sure they'd get boring after about a month unless you bought some males and watched them bump heads. They have food for sale for them too which worries me even more about taking care of them. Since they're so small I doubt they'd be able to eat Mysis... I was really interested in it for a while but still insure.

The hardest part would be feeding them and keeping the proper Gorgonian.

I also think they're different than the pygmy seahorses on Planet Earth and what you have a picture of. All the pictures on the site show them as white so perhaps its just a regular dwarf seahorse, you'd have to email the site owners.

Yes the site you linked to is selleing Hippocampus zosterae or Dwarf Seahorses. On the net the names seem to be interchangable between Pygmy and Dwarf, but there is VERY distinct differences.
