Purigen sponge catcher

Guys,
What do you all use for cannister filter for purigen? The current one I use slows down the flow too much through the purigen with the sponges in so I have to take the sponges out, but this risks flowing the purigen through the system....

I need to find a sponge that will trap the purigen, but not restrict the flow so much as the default sponge. Do you guys have any ideas?

Thanks!!!

I personally don't know of any way to contain Purigen other than placing it in one of the Seachem filter bags. I believe it is called "The Bag". It seems to do a pretty good job with gfo also.

maybe that's what I should use. I'm using this generic cannister filter that has a replaceable inner tube.

Looks like this:

the replaceable inner tube contains the purigen really well, but it's internal sponges slow down the flow so much the purgien doesn't move like an active sand filter. IT should be flowing like a lave lamp if I understand everything correctly. Well I have taken out one of the sponges. I hope no purigen gets back into the tank. It seems to be doing pretty well now, but I would like make sure I don't loose puridgen back into the main tank.

Maybe I should consider using the bag as the second sponge....

That bag is so big that it provides plenty of room for the current to push the media inside around, at least until the bag gets dirty. It's not perfect, but what are you going to do, except maybe use media that comes in larger particles.
